Mediation Attorney in Charlotte, North Carolina

In many cases, going to trial is not the best option for any of the parties involved.  This is particularly true when the legal issue involves family members. Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution that can help parties reach an agreement and settle a legal matter without the cost, stress and time that litigation can require. The attorney at Norelli Law is a highly skilled mediator who can work with parties to help them resolve disputes in the most timely and cost-effective manner possible.

Our principal attorney, Nancy Black Norelli is a certified Superior Court mediator. She has a proven track record of success in mediation, helping parties achieve settlements that allow them to move forward with their lives. Because Nancy has a high level of expertise and knowledge of North Carolina law as well as empathy for the parties involved, she is often able to help both sides reach an agreement and avoid litigation.

What Is Mediation?

Mediation is a process that parties in a lawsuit go through to attempt to agree to a solution before going to trial and having a judge or jury decide the case.  During this process, Nancy, as the mediator, does not represent either party.  Instead, she works to facilitate an agreement as a neutral third party.

As a mediator, Nancy believes that resolution can be achieved by helping each side understand the financial, personal and business ramifications of the dispute — and what a settlement would mean for them.  Her decades of experience has served her well in helping parties reach settlements.

Nancy served as a District Court Judge for eight years, overseeing dozens of jury and bench trials in Mecklenburg County.  With her extensive courtroom experience, Nancy knows how the litigation process works — and how juries reach verdicts in cases.  This gives her unique insight into the risks of going to trial and helps her move parties toward a settlement through mediation. Nancy has been certified as a mediator by the Superior Court since 1997 and has also participated in mediation as a party herself.  This first-hand experience helps her to understand what the parties in a mediation go through as they struggle to resolve a legal issue.

At Norelli Law, our attorney has expertise in a variety of legal areas and can serve as mediators in a number of cases, including:
